Typical Day in the World of Cambria

Little Sur Inn and the Moonstone Landing have beautiful new facades and I was asked to take new photos for their brochure. It was the perfect task for my frame of mind. After a flurry of work and errands, I realized I needed a bit of fresh air to clear my head and put myself on track for the balance of the day, so I ventured down to Moonstone Beach to inhale, relax and shoot.

On my way home I sighted one of our Deer friends and took the shot through my car window.

Is there anyone else out there who finds the Moonstone boardwalk an alternate form of therapy when life keeps throwing you curves?

A Bottled Lunch in Cambria...

Sometimes lunch can be a difficult prospect. A neighbor of ours is shown here with a slight dilemma, which he eventually overcame.

Lunch in Cambria is not quite so difficult .... except to decide just where to eat! Gourmet restaurants, great barbecue and home cookin coffee shops are a plenty. Visit SeeCambria.com for a partial list.

You can also see more Cambria photos at:

Step on down to the beach...

These steps take you down to Moonstone Beach... soft sand, cool breezes, refreshing air.... the north end of Cambria off Highway One.

Below kayaking can be found at the San Simeon cove (just across from the entrance to Hearst Castle). After a relaxing and refreshing kayak trek you must stop by Sebastian's for one of the best deli sandwiches you will EVER run across.

Petals & Palettes Art Show... a Real Pleasant Experience

It is that time again for the annual Petals & Palettes show at the Cambria Center for the Arts, the home of Allied Arts Association.

Stop by and see the pairing of local artist's original Artwork & Photos with Flowers & Plants supplied by the Cambria Garden Club. What a show!

You may even recognize a couple of my photos on the wall. I love to photograph flowers from all angles. The mystery of detail and riot of color never cease to fascinate me.

Spring in Cambria

Cambria is well into spring, with flowers blooming and the weather conducive to long hours in my adirondack chair on the back deck. Here are a few of our neighbors who hang around the house and nearby boardwalk.
We enjoy deer cruising the streets and yards, raccoons rummaging for goodies, fox lurking in the shadows, squirrels jumping from tree to tree, dozens of birds (they particularly like our bird bath), turkeys on parade, an occasional skunk usually evident by their trace of perfume, on rare occasions a sunbathing mountain lion, the moles and voles... not so much we see them and not so much fun to see.
Our forests and shores are inhabited by such a variety of interesting wildlife that often surprise you when they come out to play within a few feet of where you sit or walk.

Have you enjoyed any particular interesting wildlife sightings?
Share your experiences with me. I love to hear from visitors and locals alike regarding their personal Cambria joys.

Soil, stone, sand, sea & sky - Cambria California

Just north of Leffingwell, which is the north end of Moonstone Beach in Cambria California, a vista of soil, stone, sand, sea and sky. Just a taste of the Cambria coastline. Find more Cambria photos at SeeCambria.com or Click Here to purchase prints, coffee mugs, puzzles, and more imprinted with Cambria Impressions and other Impressions by Nancy McKarney. This image is on the second page of the Cambria Impressions Album. I hope you enjoy the photos I share. Let me know if you have enjoyed this view while visiting our tranquil yet entertaining village.

Below is another of my passions found within my Impression Albums. Flowers close up, from a distance, bundled, arranged just brilliant. So fragile, yet robust and challenging the environment which encompasses them.

Watcha Lookin At?

This is an old friend of mine found on the short hike along the edge of Highway one at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. This little guy was pleased to pose and appeared to be enjoying the attention.

You can find his photo and dozens more of the Cambria area and creatures at SeeCambria.com. An informational site for Cambria, California on the Central Coast just south of Hearst Castle.
